6. (C) TASK FORCE ORGANIZATION (TF 1-11): The task organization changed repeatedly during the operation due to the necessity of detaching infantry companies OPCON to the armor battalion (TF 1-77) and the mechanized battalion (TF 1-61) of the brigade, but basically the task organization consisted of four (4) rifle companies. There were periods when a mechanized scout platoon was placed OPCON to TF 1-11 for specific missions within the battalions area of operations. Upon assuming the additional responsibilities of AO BLUE a cavalry troop was placed OPCON to TF 1-11. 7. (C) SUPPORTING FORCES: a. Army Aviaiton: Throughout the duration of the operation extensive use was made of the brigades organic UH1H and OH58 helicopters, in addition UH1H and UH1G helicopters were requested through the brigade aviation section and were provided by the 101st Abn Div (AMB). The total number of helicopters utilized during the period 08 April 1971 to 21 July 1971. |
